It took guests on a journey around the zoo, allowing stunning views of the animals, habitats and gardens that couldn’t always be seen from the ground. But 28 years on, the tourist attraction has grown and now encompasses acres – with the transport system now covering less than half of it. That’s why zoo bosses have made the decision to scrap it later this year, CheshireLive reports. A zoo spokesperson explained in this month’s members magazine that the monorail, which has carried famous visitors including Her Majesty the Queen and Gary Barlow over the years, ‘no longer fits our vision for a world-class modern zoo’.
